VINEYARDS. Columbia Valley. Wines from singular sites in the Columbia Valley crafted in a way that no one else is doing. Created to be the fullest expression of the varietal and the place because we have seen what is wildly possible with this wine growing region.

Chardonnay

Roza Hills Vineyard

In the foothills of the Yakima Valley at 1300’ elevation, we have found an inspiring site yielding old vine plantings of Wente Clone Chardonnay. In 2019, our Journey began with block 5 of Roza Hills. Planted in 1977, we find it to be a wealth of rich texture and complex flavors. We seek power and balance in these bottlings and this vineyard has shown us that Washington Chardonnay still has unbridled potential. Viscous and full bodied, but with the preservation of acidity, gives this site a special designation that few can claim.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Shaw Vineyards

The power and tension of Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is known by most in Washington, and we have been fortunate to work with many incredible sites within the AVA. Our selection comes from the Shaw Vineyards where we have holdings of Clone 8 and Clone 191 Cabernet Sauvignon. These Clones provide robust yet refined tannins and amazingly layered acidity, amongst the dense black and blue fruits. With the mindset of having everything in balance, this vineyard provides the warmth and low yields we seek, to live up to our world-class expectations of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Phinny Hill

The Horse Heaven Hills range from massive expanses of rolling dry farmed wheat fields to hidden vineyards found all throughout the plateaus and the borders of the Columbia River. Phinny Hill boasts stunning views of it all, sitting at a higher elevation which provides us with incredibly dynamic Cabernet Sauvignon. We are ecstatic to be working with the Clone 8 and Clone 6, which lives up to the lore of Cabernet Sauvignon in the Horse Heaven Hills. The decadent red and black fruits create an elegant and balanced palate which is paired with the suave and polished tannins that the area is known for. These Hallmarks are on full display at this site.

Viognier, Grenache

Olsen Vineyards

Sprawling along the most eastern expanse of the Yakima Valley, Olsen Vineyards has found its home in the south facing foothills. Diverse agricultural crops such as organic blueberries, cherries, and apples sit amongst the 1,100 acres of viniferous grape varieties. Here we find amongst its many aspects, our Blocks of Viognier, Roussanne, and Grenache. The versatility of this site and the attention to detail of this grower never cease to amaze us. The balance of elevation, warm days, and cool nights, provide the ability to hang red and white varietals alike, late into the season. The balance we strive for makes this site ideal for further exploration and growth for the wines we want to forge.

Syrah

RockBar Vineyard

The Rocks District of Milton-Freewater has quickly grown into one of the most enigmatic growing regions in the world. We are grateful to have selective rows in one of these terrior-driven sites known as RockBar Vineyard. The young vine Joseph Phelps Clone Syrah we draw from this block is nothing short of exemplary and honors the terroir of this ancient river rock alluvial fan. The inky color, intense minerality, and hearty texture, make this a Syrah site that we revere and feel fortunate to have the opportunity to craft wine from. The potential for new approaches in this region is profound, and we intend to discover them.

Merlot

Red Willow Vineyard

Sitting on the most western edge of the Yakima Valley this celebrated vineyard was planted in the early 1970’s by Washington wine-growing legend Mike Saur. With a great amount of reverence and respect, we humbly work with two blocks of Merlot that offer vastly different, and complementary, expressions of the varietal. The old vine Clone 1 Merlot from the East Saddle Block planted in 1992 provides rich, dark fruit and strong backbone of tannin. The younger clone 15 Marcoux Block has a very red fruited, balanced, and velvety tannin structure. This combination was suggested to us by Mike Sauer himself and we feel we’ve struck gold. We are incredibly grateful to work with this fruit and this family.
